1994 – 2018
During my childhood, we often got together with the whole Fox family for birthday celebrations, holidays, and more. Cely fit effortlessly into the Fox clan and I can’t even remember a time without her present at some event. I always looked up to her like she was my own Grandmother. I often told people I had three grandmas. Even at a young age I noticed how calm and knowledgable she was. How supportive and kind she was. And how genuinely interested she was in all the Fox grandkid’s lives.
When I visited Grandpa and Cely throughout the years at their house, I would always look forward to a delicious homemade meal (and dessert!), and wonderful conversation. She treated me like one of her own grandkids, and wanted to know what was new in my life. I always left feeling so loved. She always had a way of making you feel like you could accomplish anything you set your mind to.
Cely was there at many of my college wind ensemble and choral concerts. She was there to help with one of my bridal showers, and she was there at my wedding. Shortly after my engagement she sent David and I a card with an antelope leaping across a meadow on the front. Inside part of the card read, “Dear Corrin, Somehow this card seemed to epitomize the magic and exhilaration you feel newly engaged!! Congratulations again! We are so thrilled for you and David.”
Cely loved unconditionally and the joy one felt when near her was instantaneous. She was such a bright light to those around her, especially her family. I am deeply grateful that she was a significant part of my life and my Grandpa’s. I will miss her dearly.
